ADDIE Project Report - Enhancing Expert Infantry Badge Testing Success

PROJECT SUMMARY

This project was completed during the Fall 2020 Semester as a requirement of the IDE 631-Instructional Design and Development I course within Syracuse University's Master of Science in Instructional Design, Development, and Evaluation (IDD&E) Program.  The purpose of this collaborative group project was to identify a real-world performance gap existing in an instructional or evaluative area familiar to the group members.  Then, working as a group, create an instructional intervention, using the Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement and Evaluate (ADDIE) process, to close the identified gap.  Upon completion of the project, the group collaborated to create a project video based on the project report for peer review and feedback.

IDD&E PHASE

This project explored all five phases of the ADDIE process and also involved designing and developing an eLearning product to inform and educate peers and potential clients on the basis of the project, closing a performance gap associated with U.S. Army Expert Infantry Badge testing success.  As such, this project may be described as pertaining to all IDD&E phases.

REFLECTION

This project allowed me to gain significant knowledge regarding the Instructional Design (ID)  and ADDIE processes.  By following the ADDIE process throughout the duration of the course and focusing on each element of ADDIE as it pertains to ID, my understanding regarding its relevance and importance has grown exponentially.  While this project was very tedious, intricate, and expansive, the methods used during the course to teach these processes were extremely effective and resulted in a project that enhanced my confidence and understanding of the ID process.

SELF-ASSESMENT

This project, completed as a final project during the Fall semester of the IDD&E M.S. Program, aided in the development of nearly all competencies included within the IDD&E Standards of Practice.  Collaboration, leadership, management and all phases of ADDIE were exercised and evaluated, with feedback provided.  Upon completion of this project, and the subsequent completion of an IDD&E Standards of Practice Self-Assessment, it became clearly apparent that my competencies had grown significantly as a result of the efforts placed into this project and the knowledge gained during its construction.
