Project Management Plan Report - Longhorn Football Student Athlete Improvement

PROJECT SUMMARY

This project was completed during the Spring 2021 Semester as a requirement of the IDE 761-Strategies in Educational Project Management course within Syracuse University's Master of Science in Instructional Design, Development, and Evaluation (IDD&E) Program.  The purpose of this project was to apply project management skills and proficiencies to an assigned topic.  As a group project, this assignment required my team to conduct project management techniques while simultaneously exploring project management as it pertained to our assigned problem, the improvement of student-athlete skills and proficiencies in a collegiate setting.

IDD&E PHASE

This project involved the partial design, development, and evaluation of instructional interventions focused on closing several performance gaps relating to student athletes. As such, this project pertained to all phases of IDD&E.

REFLECTION

This group project allowed my team to gain a deep understanding of the role project management plays in the IDD&E industry.  Further, this project provided us with the opportunity to explore the methods, tools, procedures, and application of project management.  Throughout this process, my partner and I became aware that project management is something that we conduct on a near daily basis as leaders within the U.S. Army.  While the terminology associated with project management may have differed with our own developed ideas of managing Army processes, the parallels between the two were impossible to ignore.  Upon completion of this project, Andy and I were able to reflect on how our previous efforts as Army leaders, coupled with our newfound knowledge of mainstream project management had given us a very solid foundation of project management understanding that we will surely benefit from in our futures.

SELF-ASSESMENT

This project, completed early in the Spring semester of the IDD&E M.S. Program, allowed my team to display our experience regarding project management with a focus on the assigned problem.  I feel that our backgrounds as Army leaders contributed greatly to our success on this assignment.  Ultimately, Andy and I created an exceptional project management plan, designed around an actual client, that showcased our deep understanding of the components, phases, tools, and methods associated with project management planning.
