eLearning - Microlearning Virtual Reality Video

PROJECT SUMMARY
This project was completed during the Fall 2020 Semester as a requirement of the IDE 552-Digital Media Production course within Syracuse University's Master of Science in Instructional Design, Development, and Evaluation (IDD&E) Program. The purpose of this project was to identify an emerging classroom technology that would serve to enhance the instructional environment and design, develop, and create a microlearning segment video based on the identified technology for peer presentation and evaluation. This project was created using Microsoft PowerPoint and emphasizes the proficiency of the tools located within PowerPoint, including audio syncing, graphic design, animations, and transitions as well as a basic understanding of the Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement and Evaluate (ADDIE) process.

IDD&E PHASE
This project involved designing and developing an eLearning product to inform and educate learners on emerging classroom technologies. As such, this project may be described as pertaining to the design and development phases of IDD&E.

REFLECTION
This project served as an exploration of the eLearning and microlearning dynamic and allowed me to gain a better understanding of the efforts and skills required by eLearning designers. While designing this project, I attempted to visualize myself as the learner in order to better create an educational, interactive, and entertaining product. Ultimately, this project provided me with a deeper appreciation of course designers from the identification of a performance gap, through the entire ADDIE process, to the actual production of educational digital media. The knowledge gained during this project proved to be extremely valuable throughout the duration of the IDD&E Fall semester and I am sure it will serve me well throughout the remainder of my studies and into my professional ID career.

SELF-ASSESMENT
This project, completed early in the Fall semester of the IDD&E M.S. Program, displayed my abilities regarding graphic design and animation. Further, it helped me to understand the areas of deficiency that I had regarding the ADDIE and Instructional Design (ID) processes. Upon completion of this project, I was better able to understand the IDD&E Standards of Practice and how they relate to me as an aspiring instructional designer. In retrospect, I feel that I could have produced a better and more comprehensive product, but I feel that the final project video, located below, was an excellent opportunity for reflection and growth.
