IDE 712 - Analysis for Human Performance Technology Decisions

COURSE SUMMARY

IDE 712 Addresses analytical techniques used to determine educational or training program solutions. Participants examine human behavior and the role that instruction can have in changing behavior on the job and in society. IDE 712 focuses on analytical techniques that can be used to determine if an educational or training program is the most appropriate solution in a variety of educational and business situations. The process is referred to as Front-End Analysis (FEA). Joe Harless first used the term Front-End Analysis in 1969 in his publication “An Ounce of Analysis (Is Worth a Pound of Objectives).” This came from his finding that training often did not lead to desired results. Unless we understand the cause of a performance, our ID process may not develop an effective solution; whether it is instruction or some other solution. In this course, students learn various models for front-end analysis. Each of these involves investigating the nature of performance problems and determining whether causes are environmental, motivational, or a deficit in knowledge or skills.
